Vayant Travel Technologies, the online airfare shopping specialists, have announced that they are now capable of delivering sub-second search results through their new FastSearch solution technology, unveiled at this week’s Travel Technology Europe 2012 exhibition.
Vayant can now deliver flight search results in under a second
In an announcement via a press release earlier today, Vayant claimed that the sub-second flight search technology, which is currently in the beta testing phase, represents a first for the online travel industry. They say that the aim is to provide travel agencies, tour operators and meta search engines the most cost-efficient air fare search around, with results delivered in just milliseconds.
Eric Dumas, Vayant’s chief operating officer, said in a statement that FastSearch represented a significant technological breakthrough in the industry and would be embraced by users worldwide:

By breaking the legacy speed barrier, Vayant is well-positioned to become one of the fastest and most efficient shopping and pricing engines available on the market.”
Vayant say that the technology, which has moved away from the traditional method of caching used by most search tools, has an 80% accuracy rate and can be tailored according to their user’s business requirements.

As soon as a user enters their search requirements, FastSearch throws up schedules, fares, availability and tax information for each flight almost instantaneously. Further, as FastSearch operates in a live environment, those results will be updated within minutes of any published changes by airlines that affect the results, such as fare or schedule changes, seat availability changes, and so on.
The new software from Vayant is expected to be warmly embraced by travel industry professionals, who have long had to suffer interminable waits for their search results.
Vayant has said that it plans to charge a monthly fee for FastSearch, which will be based on the user’s volume of transactions.
Further, the company announced that it is planning to launch several updates to the technology later in the year, including the ability to search according to budget, affinity searches and calendar searches.
