The Tübingen Expects a Massive Duck Attack 2013

The Roundtable Tübingen Duck Race 2013, an event that has become a tradition already, takes place this year on October 5th. Rubber ducks races fans are awaited at the start point on Avenue bridge at the upper end of the Neckar Island starting 14.00.

As mentioned, the ducks aren’t real, but made of rubber. However, the race is really funny and the prizes are also very tempting: there is a big prize of a €1000 holiday voucher, but there are some important prizes for runners-up.

To participate in the race you have to buy in advance a ticket with a number of a duck. Don’t worry, you have where to choose from as it appears there are several thousands of ducks dumped into the Neckar River from Alleenbrücke.

You can buy your ticket starting September 15th, at €3 in various places – you can see them all on the official website. The race is expected to take about 45 minutes and the winner is the first duck that reaches the destination lying between Hölderlinturm and Eberhard bridge. At 15:15 is expected to start the award ceremony.

But there is another important element of this really yellow race. The fact that money go to several social projects at home and abroad. The Roundtable Tübingen Duck Race is one of the oldest and largest race of its kind in Baden-Wuerttemberg. The event itself is very lively and colorful, as kids accompany their ducks and cheer for them along the race and, in the end, everyone wins: a fun time, some prizes and knowing they contributed to a good did.
