According to reports from Thomas Cook and TUI, International tour operators and travel agents are preparing for this year’s “Sunshine Saturday”, which is one of the busiest booking holidays.

Tour operator Thomas Cook announced earlier searches for destinations being up 24 percent year on year since Christmas Day. TUI Group also expects the first Saturday of the year to boom. The company expects almost 1 million people to visit a TUI store or website to book a getaway.

Both the huge tour groups are expecting the busiest holiday day of the year, and the top destinations for 2018 are likely to be Greece, Cyprus, and  Turkey. TUI is also tipping travelers that Turkey, Montenegro, Halkidiki, Croatia and Cape Verde will prove popular this year. Chris Mottershead, managing director at Thomas Cook UK, had this to offer:

“We expect to take double the bookings of a normal weekend this coming weekend as holidaymakers move quickly to make sure they get their next dose of sunshine in the diary.”

The travel agencies predict this year’s holidaymakers to seek out exciting destinations when booking beach holidays. The reports seem to show a break with traditional seven and 14-night breaks in favor of 10 and 11-night holidays, which are expected to become the new normal.
