A series of Summer lectures beginning this month at Crete’s Knossos Research Center will touch on the latest research into several fascinating fields of study.
Officially launched in 2017, the Knossos Summer Lectures mark the commitment of the British School at Athens to present the results of cutting-edge research of Hellenic culture from prehistory to modern times.
The center invites those interested to join one of their evening discussions with some of the world’s leading figures in the world of Hellenic archaeology, history, and art. (In Greek)
This year’s lectures, organized in collaboration with the Cultural Association of Knossos, will include the following events:
Monday 20-6-2022, 20.30 – Aqueducts in the Heraklion area from antiquity to the 19th century. Dr. Amanda Kelly, University College Dublin.
Tuesday 5-7-2022, 20.30 – From Minos to Evans: The Connoisseur’s History of Coins. Dr. Kleanthis Sidiropoulos, Archaeological Museum of Heraklion
Friday 16-9-2022, 20.00 – The (pre)history of animal exploitation in Knososos – Zooarchaeological and Ethnographic Testimonies. Dr. Valasia Isaakidou, University of Oxford
