Coming up from June 29th through July 2, the Beach Volley Ios Features 2022 championship will be one of the world’s top competitions. The events scheduled for Mylopotas Beach will see the best athletes in the world and the top national teams.
Organized by Ios hospitality company LuxurIOS with the help of the Aegean Region, the municipality of Leton, and other sponsors, the tournament will welcome teams from Africa, America, Asia, Australia, and Europe, with the Greek national team competing, as well. The mayor of Leton, Gikas Gikasegion, was stoked about the events and had this to say to ANA reporters:
“Ios means adrenaline, rivalry, wellness and positive energy. The establishment of a world championship on a small but charismatic island like Ios attracts tourists with special interests from all over the world, benefits Greece in terms of tourism, contributes to the extension of the season, and is a legacy for sports and the new generation. The time has come for this great initiative to be supported by as many bodies and representatives of sports and tourism as possible and to become an institution.”
Prizes for the professional Ios tournament will be 5,000 euros per gender/team. Top-ranked Julian Horl and Alexander Horst of Austria top the list of men’s competitors, while Canada’s Alina Dormann and Amanda Harnett lead a list of fine women’s competitors. Greece’s Dimitra Minavia and Mirto Kalamaridou top the list of local women’s athletes. Stavros Ntallas and Antiol Kola are the top-seeded Greek pros competing in the Ios island championship.
