Tallink Grupp Shows Off Efficiency Even Despite Loss

Estonia’s AS Tallink Grupp has just released their Q1 profit and loss figures for 2013. According to their release the passenger shipping line lost some €17.7 million euro, down €1.3 million in red ink from last year’s figures at the same time.

For quarter one of this year the group carried some 1.9 million passengers, about 4.5% fewer than the previous year. Revenue overall was reported to be about €3.2 million euro less than last year too, but effective pricing actually affected an increase in total ticket revenue. Even despite lower passenger volumes, the shipping company managed to cut their losses.

In some areas of the line’s business, such as the  Latvia-Sweden route, revenue increases showed excellent growth up to 8% or above. Tallink is the leading provider of high-quality mini-cruise and passenger transport services in the Baltic Sea region.
