Someone once said; “The cure for anything is salt water – sweat, tears, or the sea.” Well, the proof in this is something my husband and I experienced last Fall. As Winter came knocking last year, once again we decided to seize the warm sunshine in our mouths, just to see us through the chilly months of Winter.
Taking a few days off, this seaside excursion became another romantic interlude – and as you can see, a footnote on our lives. Just a short journey away, the emerald sea beaconed us once again. India’s coast is truly a cure all.
The beach is almost deserted - perfect for us to take ownership
Weekend gateways work as ‘relationship bonding booster’s for me and my hubby. Last year’s trip to beautiful Tajpur Beach was invigorating from the standpoint that we really needed a break from work then. The “cure” was so badly needed. 180 kms away from Kolkata (Calcutta), in West Bengal, this beach is extraordinary for a number of reasons.
The deep green of the sea there is not the least of pleasant distractions – and tranquility was the treatment we were in search of. Walking the beach, knee deep in the soothing salt sea, somehow tension seems to melt away – you know the feeling.
Tajpur Beach at dusk - how serene is that?
Staying at the very cool Tajpur Nature Camp, my husband and I were thrilled with the brightly colored cottages strewn about our little patch of beach. Add in our quality time, pleasant skies, and superb traditional Bengali cuisine, and a the relaxing effects were perfect. Too short, the time always goes so quickly when one reaches harmony it seems. I guess you can tell we love the beach, huh?
If you are in the area on your trip to Bengal, Tajpur is also close to Mandarmani, Digha, and Shankarpur beachs. A short trip out of Kolkata, you simply must visit these famous beaches at North Medinipur district of West Bengal. Like us, before you leave Tajpur, you will have the feeling you actually own a piece of this tranquil place. There is something just a little magical on the personal level – you will see.
