Greek meteorologists are forecasting foul weather on account of the new storm named “Dido”. The front is expected to begin affecting the western and southern regions of Greece starting on Monday evening.
Experts predict heavy rainfall and severe storms as well as heavy snowfall in the higher altitudes of Greece. Forecasters say winds are expected to be strong in many parts of Greece for the next few days. The video report from Meteo.gr below shows the storm’s development.
According to the storm alert, most regions of Greece will start to see adverse weather conditions by Tuesday and Wednesday. Heavy rainfall and local storms will affect the Ionian Sea, Epirus, Central Greece, Thessaly, Macedonia and the Peloponnese.
In the southern parts of Greece, storms and rain are expected to be the heaviest, as well as on the coasts northeastern mainland Greece.
Storm ”Dido” will be moving eastward, eventually affecting the rest of the mainland as well as most of the Aegean islands and Crete. Temperatures are not expected to plummet, and residents in the mountains of northern and central Greece should expect heavy snow.
The weather is expected to clear from Thursday onward, bringing the wintery sunshine back to most regions of Greece.
