Softronic Unveils New Hyperion for Romania

Romanian rail manufacturer Softronic has just announced a new prototype of its new Hyperion emu set to test along Romania’s main rail lines. The Hyperion has been developed by Softronic at the company’s Craiova plant to the south of Romania at a cost of around €5 million euro, the reports say.

The new articulated train is to be available in two versions, one capable of 160 kilometers per hour, and another version capable of 200 kph. Both versions will be capable of transporting up to 188 passengers.

Softronic says the trains are  is equipped with ABB traction motors, Lucchini wheelsets, and Knorr-Bremse brakes. Air-conditioning systems made in Italy by Klimat-Fer. Designed in 2012, these trains are constructed using the most recent technological advances.
