Open Invitation: Sarajevo Winter 2011 Coming this February

Travel to Sarajevo this February. Aside being beautiful, Sarajevo will hold one of its most acclaimed festivals: the XXVII International Festival Sarajevo – “Sarajevo Winter 2011” February 7-28, 2011.

The traditional festival will be followed by the 4th Environmental Film Festival EKO OKO, which is also considered to be part of the Sarajevo Winter Festival 2011. The official title of the Eco Festival will be “Art of Love?”- and the programmes run from March 3 to March 7, 2011.

Under the motto “Art of Love” this year’s festival continues a long tradition started with the first “Sarajevo Winter” festival, back in 1984: some of the country’s best artists and performers meet to showcase their work and entertain the public, alongside artists from all over the world. The programmes are held in theaters, galleries, museums, concert halls and on the Olympic mountains, and even city public squares.

The festival offers an impressive array of cultural and artistic activities, from theater to concerts, fine art exhibitions, literary events and film screening. It is already an inseparable part of Sarajevo’s city life and culture during winter. Since 1984, there were over 3.250 performances and exhibitions with over 30.000 participating artists from all parts of the world, shown here, attended by more than 3.025.000 people. The festival was continued even  in the times of war, becoming a symbol of freedom of creativity for the people of Sarajevo and not only.
