This tram is from 1976 and was completely refurbished, as an article on Yahoo, quoting opiniatimisoarei.ro mentions. It now has numerous facilities for tourists such as two beer dispensers, coffee, beverages, two refrigerators, microwave and a toilet. Moreover, tourists have free internet in this tram (which also video monitored).

Mayor Nicolae Robu says he thought such an initiative could be appreciated. Such old trams can be refurbished and used for tourism or recreational purposes.

Refurbishing and adding the tourist facilities cost Autonomous transportation Timisoara 40.000 lei and RATT Chief John Goia considers the investment will pay off in maximum two years.

I for one think this tram is one definitely worth taking in consideration for a sight seeing of the historical centre of Timisoara. But then again, I do love such tours in various “vehicles” – should I say I took one in a carriage in Vienna?
