More Polish Tourists to Albania

When Albania was ranked as one of the world’s top destinations to be visited in 2011, a lot has changed for the Country of the Eagle, including tourist numbers. It has already been reported that the number of tourists visiting Albania in the first eight months of 2011 has increased with by 200% compared to the same period in 2008; with most tourists arriving here from Kosovo (51%), followed by Macedonia (11%), Montenegro (5%), Greece (5%) and Italy (5%).

A clear interest from neighboring countries can be traced above. But the good news is that now Albania seems to trigger interest in other countries, although the focus remains Eastern Europe. This weekend, Albanian Minister of Tourism Aldo Tonin Bumçi met with a group of Polish tour operators, who were interested in exploring the country′s tourism potentials, cultural heritage and investment opportunities; Albeu reported. While the interest for Albania seems to remain within Eastern European borders, the news signifies a lot for the country.

The President of the Polish Chamber of Tourism, Ian Korsak told Bumçi that in the future more Polish businesses will show interest to invest in Albania. Korsak also promised that Polish tourists will be encouraged to visit Albania’s fine beaches and other tourist destinations in the near future.
