A 33-year-old Polish national is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of Agios Nikolaos General Hospital after a near-drowning incident at Agios Andreas beach in Ierapetra on Tuesday evening.
The Ierapetra Port Authority was notified, and EKAV dispatched an ambulance to the scene.
They initially took the man to Ierapetra Health Center. His condition then required transfer to Agios Nikolaos General Hospital, where he remains hospitalized in the ICU.
The Ierapetra Port Authority is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Again, a warning: even on the usual beaches of Crete, under certain conditions, dangerous situations can occur. In a water accident, the immediate response and first aid may save a life.
Dear tourists, Don’t swim alone. Don’t dive alone. Don’t hike alone. Don’t be a stupid daredevil.
With love, Manuel Santos for Argophilia Travel News.
