Heraklion Airport has a new Kiss & Fly area, giving passengers and drop-off drivers a dedicated place for quick departures and arrivals without hunting for parking. The new facility, introduced by the Civil Aviation Authority outside Nikos Kazantzakis Airport, has 17 spaces for short stops. Patris reported the opening today.
You drive in, drop off or collect your passenger, say your goodbye or hello, and leave.
Kiss & Fly is a short-stay area, not a place to park while you wander into the terminal for coffee.
This system is already common at airports worldwide. Drivers use the designated spaces for the few minutes needed to drop off or pick up passengers, rather than occupying conventional parking spaces.
For Heraklion, where airport traffic can get particularly intense in the summer, the new area should make arrival and departure a little less painful for families, friends, taxi passengers, and anyone else being dropped off or collected.
No parking. No disappearing into the terminal. No turning the Kiss & Fly area into your personal afternoon parking spot.
For visitors arriving in Crete, it is a small change, but a practical one. And after a long flight, sometimes all you want is to get out of the airport without adding another twenty minutes of airport parking drama.
