Pitești Sings a Tulip Symphony

For residents and visitors of Pitești, a beautiful Romanian city on the Argeș River, this weekend is a weekend of surprising colors, music, lights, and… flowers. Starting today, till Sunday, Pitești reenacts the “Tulip Symphony,” this year at its 37th edition.

The event is a symbol of the cultural life of Pitești, a flower festival unlike any other in Romania. The event is marked by a series of thematic activities, all revolving around flowers, and their tradition in Pitești. An art exhibition titled “Pitești, City of Flowers” was inaugurated yesterday at 17:00 local hours, at the Municipality of Pitești.

The flower parade took place at 10:30, on the stretch between the Municipality and the Exhibition Complex “Casa Cărţii.” Later today, the parade will be followed by a traditional folklore song and dance show outdoors in the Square Vasile Milea, while at 21:00, the Piteşti City Hall Square will be the stage of a light and sound show, at the musical fountain.

Similar events, minus the flower parade, will follow on Saturday, when, participants at the concert in Piteşti City Hall Square will also witness spectacular fireworks at 19:00. The day ends with the light and sound show at the fountain.

Sunday, the Tulip Symphony will be celebrated with a variety of sports competitions and events.
