Peninsula Festival in Târgu Mureş Rocks Transylvania

The Peninsula Music Festival 2011, comes to the Transylvania city of Târgu Mureş (below) August 25th through 28th, promising yet another music experience of a lifetime. Known in Romania as Sziget (peninsula) Festival, and in Hungarian as Félsziget Festival, the music event has grown to become one of the most anticipated in all Europe. No matter who calls the event what, Transylvania is about to rock.

The first edition of this festival took place back in 2003, when 20,000 music fans flocked to Romania for the event. This year’s event will likely attract upwards of 50,000, maybe more. Dubbed Peninsula – Félsziget Festival this time around, organizers are letting it all hang out on and offline. Facebook promotions to other social media outcries, and no doubt  a massive real world outreach, promise a stupendous crowd. And the list of world headliners scheduled to perform? Well, you get the drift.

The performance lineup goes something like this, beginning on August 25th; Guano Apes, K’s Choice, Zdob si Zdub, R.O.A., and finally Stereo Palma. Then on the following day the action includes performances by; Kasabian, Markus Schulz, Andy C, Grimus, Reality Engine, Les Elephants Bizarres, The MOOoD, and all too appropriately the ground beneath Târgu Mureş shakes via Romanian sensations Tündérground.

The final day of Peninsula Fest 2011 will see the likes of; Nick Warren, Subscribe, Şuie Paparude, and the Romanian alternative rock artists Luna Amară (Bitter Moon). Check out the YouTube video below as the wrap up for this year’s festival promises a rock bow for the package.
