Starting with August 1st, Padina Plateau in the heart of Bucegi Mountains, Romania, hosts the 3rd edition of Padina Fest, a five-day festival of mountain sports, environmental education programs, folk and rock concerts, as well as outdoor movie nights and lots of surprises.

In addition to the main objective of protecting the nature, this year’s event focuses on sport, recreation and various open-air activities, encouraging participants to explore the scenic Romanian mountains.
Padina Festival’s highlights include two entertaining fairs: Bucegi Marathon and Bucegi Challenge, both of them featuring some amazing itineraries throughout the Carpathians’ spectacular surroundings. Moreover, the adventure will be accompanied by recovery and EcoRelax sessions, guests having the opportunity to learn and practice various stress release techniques such as Tai Chi, Qui Gong and Pranayama.

Designed especially for cycling enthusiasts, Bucegi Marathon offers participants the chance to explore the impressive Bucegi Natural Park through a 40km route full of adrenaline and famous sights such as: Babele, Piatra Arsa, Bolboci Lake, Valea Dorului, Șaua Dichiului, Cerdacul and Peștera.
Bucegi Challenge, the other important event of Padina Fest 2012, consists of an exciting running marathon. The 40km-long itinerary, featuring exclusively the mountains’ thrilling paths will take place at an altitude of 2444 meters offering partakers the chance to combine movement with fresh air and breathtaking scenery. For the bravest, however, the organizers suggest a “Hit the Top up and down” type of race consisting of reaching Omu peak (the highest peak in Bucegi) and getting back to the start/finish point.
Aiming to combine the sport with nature protection, Padina Fest launches “Padina Fest conquers a mountain” – a movement that encourages mountain ecotourism in Romania. Other delightful activities during the festival include various workshops such as Photo Workshop or Delicious Moments Workshop, where participants have the opportunity to learn quick and easy travel recipes and to develop their altruism and team spirit.

After each day of adventure, the evening will come like a blessing with specially equipped hammocks, entertaining concerts, diverse movies and good mood in order to offer contenders the opportunity to relax and have fun.
Vița de Vie, Suie Paparude, Steelborn, OCS, Kumm and Emeric Imre are just some of the bands invited to heat up the atmosphere alongside other talented artists ready to animate the festival’s stage.
