Last week it was announced that Norwegian Cruise Lines’ Norwegian Pearl European cruise was cut short. The July 5th voyage from Civitavecchia (Rome) was also canceled due to a technical issue that’s impacting the ship’s speed.

Last Monday, in the midst of a 13-day cruise from Amsterdam to the Mediterranean, the ship experienced a technical issue which required the ship’s captain to order reduced speed. Norwegian Pearl skipped its call at Palma, Majorca, and sailed to Barcelona, where further assessments determined immediate repairs were needed.

The cruise line immediately issued a 50% refund and future cruise credit to those passengers on the current cruise, which was scheduled to continue to Livorno and end at Civitavecchia. Norwegian Cruise Line is also covering up to $300 in flight change fees.

According to the announcement, passengers booked on the July 5 ‘Greek Isles and Italy’ sailing will receive a 100% refund and a 100% future cruise credit, as well as up to $300 in flight change fees.

Norwegian Pearl just began its European season in June as one of six NCL ships sailing the region. The 93,530 ton Norwegian Pearl was built in 2006 and extensively refurbished in 2017.
