Athens & Epidaurus Festival 2018

News bits from Greece, electronic tickets to Greek archaeological sites are to be issued starting after May 2018. A contract was signed recently between the contractor and the Society of Messinian Archaeological Studies (EMAS), according to the news.

Meanwhile, news the Athens Festival will include 87 performances and commissioned works by Greek artists at the Pireos 260 venue. The annual festival will include performances and events mostly focused at Irodio (Herod Atticus theatre) in Athens and the theatre of Ancient Epidaurus. The Epidaurus Festival schedule was presented in November 2017.

The Athens Festival will open at Irodio with Verdi’s “Nabucco” on June 1 and conclude with a performance of Bizet’s “Carmen” by the National Greek Opera on July 31. The fest will also feature performers like;  Sting (performed in January), Nigel Kennedy, Bill Murray, big orchestras, Christina Maxouri, and many others. More details about the Athens & Epidaurus Festival are available at the official website here.

Also in the news, the Greek government is preparing a plan for the post-memorandum era which will be of ‘Greek-cut’ and, after the latest Eurogroup, it has been named “holistic strategic development plan”. Already, the basic principles of it have been set (it should be ready by Easter) and, for sure, one of the major growth enhancing issues is investment. According to Ministry of Economy and Development sources, the goal of attracting Foreign Direct Investment for 2018 has been set at 6 billion euros.
