For those of us who feel like pictures are as big a part of any journey as the traveling is period, the people at a startup called Picfari™ may have just come up with a perfect pain reliever for crummy pictures during your travels. This free mobile app helps afford every traveler the same wisdom professional photographers have when getting to those award wining photo ops they shoot. Well, maybe you won’t become Ansel Adams, but take a quick look at what Picfari™ does do.

In a nutshell the app uses what’s termed PICFARIs, or map pinpoints of certain locations (the developers call them PICstops™) that direct would be photo journalists like you to the exact place to go for an optimal creative capture. Yes, PICstops tell you where to stand, etc. You’ll never miss the optimum photo-travel experience again. It’s all about the composition really. Most of us (especially me) use the “more is better” method of grabbing truly great photos no matter where we are. I know on our trip to Milan not long ago I was constantly running about trying to get the best light, line, and backdrop for shots of the family and so on. I ended up with decent images, but boy it sure took a lot of work. The time spent could have been better use, let me just say that.

I just signed up, and it was a breeze getting going. Without a full review here, look at what I created below with virtually no effort or learning curve. What you will find using Picfari is that while the service is very easy to get used to and use, it is actually a serious tool for anyone wanting to catalog their images etc. As you can see, I have managed to do a nice job with our trip to Bernkastel last year. You will enjoy this app, I am sure. I can’t wait to load it on our smart devices.
