MITT 2017 Hits Expocentre Moscow

MITT an early 2017 hit

At “Expocentre” this week the 24th International Tourism Exhibition MITT 2017 has been one of the year’s early sensations. Set to be exclusively B2B this time around, the event saw a significant increase in visitors this year.

According to organizers, this year the exhibition welcomed some 2000 participants from 185 countries and regions worldwide. Among them, some 200 are taking part in “MITT”. while the remainder are visitors. One motif that has been vehemently stressed, the return of Turkey and the opening of Egypt, witnessed big participant numbers as well.

The opening ceremony this year was attended by first Deputy Chairman of Committee of the state Duma on culture Elena Drapeko, Deputy Minister of culture of Russia Alla Manilova, Chairman of the expert Council for tourism of the Committee Federation Council on social policy Igor Fomin, and the President of the Russian Union of travel industry (RST) Sergey Shpilko. Elena Drapeko made particular note on how the Russian government pays special attention to tourism sector:

“Now we can say that Russia is one of the safest countries in the world. And that the adopted by our government and Parliament the program of tourism development in Russia has led to undoubted success.”

This year the business program of the exhibition reflects the main trends of both domestic and outbound tourist market. The business event MITT-2017 gave professionals the full bright picture of how the industry will thrive on in the new season. On March 14 MITT presented for the first time IT-conference MITT Digital “Technology in practice”, organized together with the Media company TRN Group. On the same day will be a Panel discussion MITT-Region “The Russian tourism product — from the idea to the tourist” was dedicated to finding effective ways of interaction for tourism with regional tourism authorities, reports “Turprom”. Also in the program yesterday, sessions on hotel businesses in Rujssia in 2017, a technology knowledge sessoion, coming legislation, and preparations for the upcoming FIFA 2018 were carried out.

Also, a series of presentations of tourism opportunities of the cities for FIFA 2018 were held. Held annually, MITT is Russia’s largest and longest running travel exhibition. With over 1,800 participating companies and 192+ destinations, it is the key meeting place for the industry and an opportunity to catch up with colleagues and clients.
