In a May story that instructs travelers on taking in Greek antiquity destination, the New York Times’ Michaela Trimble offers a wonderful travel guide for your eventual pilgrimage to the home of western civilization, including great places to stay and what to eat and drink. Athens, Nafplio, and Ithaca are covered.
At Thrillist, Kastalia Medranon wrote an amazing list for “would be” Greece tourists to find hidden gems in the land of 6,000 islands. For those who fear that Santorini may soon sink under the weight of a billion visitors, Kastalia’s suggestions provide thrilling alternatives like Delphi, Sounion, Corinth, and others. For me, the Temple of Poseidon on Cape Sounion is absolutely on my “bucket list” – and we live on magnificent Crete. So there you go.
A company called Air Transat managed to advertise itself while at the same time offering super advise for travelers with kids headed to Greece. In a Yahoo! Finance (go figure) press release the Canadian leisure airline fills first-timers in on the best times to visit, booking packages like Creta Maris Beach Resort here on Crete, and preparing kids for their historic journey.
The Travel Doctor at the Sunday Times advises on where to take kids in Greece too. That report introduces some of Hercules’s Twelve Labours – the Nemean Lion (ancient Nemea is a 45-minute drive from Tolon), the Lernaean Hydra, and the Stymphalian Birds (Lake Stymphalia is 90 minutes), and more.
Most recently, Luxury Travel Magazine posted a nice story about Astir Beach resort relaunching this summer on the Athens Riviera. For those unfamiliar, Astir Beach has ben one of Greece’s most epic resorts since way back in the glory days of the 1960s. The relaunch brings guests of the resort upgraded luxury wellness, accommodations, family offerings, and much more.
The Tail End of Travel News
This months “worst” Greece travel mention comes from CEOWorld Magazine, where the entirety of Greece is regarded as a city. And I quote from the May article:
“Greece is probably one of the most famous destinations in the world. For those on a budget, it’s certainly not one of the most expensive cities in Europe.”
Yes, Greece has been “rumored” to be great for tourists, and once Athens was a city-state. Whether you are a CEO, a student, or hardworking steelworker running a blast furnace, it’s always high time to Visit Greece.
