In Põlva County August Begins with the Intsikurmu Music Festival

Sold out: Intsikurmu Music Festival 2016

At the heart of the forest, in a natural area that can be the setting of an Estonian fairy tale, Põlva County will celebrate summer with its traditional Intsikurmu Music Festival two days at the beginning of August: 4 and 5.

Wouldn’t you like to linger with your loved one in a hammock while the music is playing in the distance? You can also bring your little ones to a picnic for concerts early in the day. There are stalls selling ice cream, drinks, and snacks, but you can always bring your own food and refreshments.

This year, the festival will feature popular performers and bands such as Põhja Konn, Throws, Sibyl Vane, The Coco’nuts, Daniel Levi, Polifauna, Liis Ring, My Radiant You, Anneli Arro music, Micucu, and many others. You will enjoy two days of world-class music in a bright, happy atmosphere, surrounded by the pristine nature of Põlva County.

Põlva County is youthful and fun. Nature lovers will enjoy the wealth of outdoor recreational activities here, including swimming, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and more. There are many attractions to appeal to visitors of all ages here, including museums, nature trails, churches, monuments, castles, and water parks. You can easily spend two days at the festival, and a week exploring the county. Our recommended attractions include the Estonian Road Museum, the sacred labyrinth Viia-Jaani Labürinditalu in Ihamaru, a boat trip on the Saesaare Reservoir, and the Varbuse Muusikamõis manor in Põlvamaa for workshops, activities for children, concerts, and other delightful events.

If you go: hurry and book a room at Pesa Hotel in Põlva. The hotel boasts only 30 rooms with comfy furniture and free WiFi. There are several other guest houses in the area, including Tammekännu Holiday House, Urmas Rehvid Holiday Home, Rähni Maja, and Mammaste Tervisespordikeskus among others. There are also camping areas not far from the Intsikurmu Music Festival grounds.
