Spain’s HTGroup to Open Petit Palace Lealtad Plaza

With all the bad news flying about from European capitols it’s nice to see hotel groups expanding through all the economic strife. This is particularly true where the hardest hit countries are concerned. News that Spanish hoteliers, HTGroup is opening a new four star in Madrid, this is good news for a change of fortunes. Petit Palace Lealtad Plaza Hotel on the plaza of the same name in central Madrid, is a “need to know about” stay for Spain travelers.

Scheduled to open in the center of one of Madrid’s most popular areas next week, the Petit Palace Lealtad Plaza Hotel is a nice combination of old world charm and high tech hospitality. For those unfamiliar with the Spanish capitol, El Retiro, as it is more often called, takes its name from Jardines del Buen Retiro or Parque del Buen Retiro (image below), and the entire area of Madrid surrounding the gardens mirror the beauty therein. So location wise HTGroup could not have selected a better spot for a four star. The hotel is a block from the West gate of the gardens.

We caught up with the hotel’s General Manager José María Sánchez Alabarces in between his meetings yesterday to ask about this latest opening, particularly the setting. Ideally suited for tourists because of convenience to such attractions as Museo del Prado (250 meters away), the Botanical Gardens of Madrid, and the Museo Nacional De Artes Decorativas (around the corner) – well, the reader gets the picture I hope. This is a lovely part of Madrid, close to everything. José offered this too:

“The Lealtad Plaza is a destination for leisure and business travelers alike, one offering everything anyone needs for a memorable stay in Madrid.”

As for business types, convenience is doubly defined for this local. The Bank of Spain and Bolsa de Madrid are a stone’s throw literally, and the PAP Congress Center is on the other side of the park. For reference, The Ritz is around the corner from this hotel on the plaza as well. It’s safe to suggest you’ll be in good company during your stay. Then there’s your hotel.

We told you Petit Palace Lealtad Plaza was tech friendly

71 plush rooms, in the center of Spain’s most memorable city, in an edifice designed by the same arhichect who designed Retiro Parks gates, José Urioste y Velada would be proud to learn of what his creation has become. This is a place to enjoy all the history and spirit of one of the world’s most magnificent capitols. Here is a list of amenties for guests:

  • Complimentary Wi-Fi and Ipod and Iphone dock
  • Direct dial telephone and ISDN telephone line
  • Flat-screen television
  • Laptop safe
  • Air conditioning
  • Walk-in shower, makeup mirror, and complimentary toiletries
  • and all the four star features you would expect like free bike rentals and room service, etc.

As for HTGroup, the reader might be interested to know the group has other fine hotels in the following cities; Barcelona, Malaga, Bilbao, Salamanca, Sevilla, and lovely Valencia. In correllary news too, it may interest those in touch with hotel marketing tech to know HTGroup has engaged leading hotel marketing group WIHP Hotels to deploy their Convert technology for the news entity. WIHP’s Convert was the hit of last year’s ITB Berline, a website design and marketing combo we have discussed several times. Where there is the forward edge of online hotel channels, there we find WIHP again and again.
