Data Says Finland Tourists to Greece Will Increase 10% for 2020

According to reports from ΜΑΤΚΑ 2020, Finnish tourists flows to Greece are expected to increase by 10% or more this season. Tourists from Finland were up 11.5% in 2019, and the Association of Tourist Agents claims this is the first time Greece beat out Spain in tour packages.

According to the figures, Greece claimed 35% of total tour package sales in 2019. At the workshop of ΜΑΤΚΑ 2020 held at the Exhibition Center Messukeskus Helsinki from 16 to 20 January 2020, the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) were co-exhibitors, alongside the Regions of Crete and South Aegean, the Federation of Finnish-Greek Associations with members of 2,000 Finns and 18 clubs, a consortium of hotels from Rethymnon, Crete and hotel from Agios Nikolaos Crete.

The GNTO joined a total of 700 exhibitors and 68,000 visitors at Matka 2020 Workshop Day, which is the largest travel trade event in Northern Europe.  Finland tourists can get super cheap flights from Helsinki to Athens on Wego for as little as $120 US round trip. Fliers can be in Athens in 3 hours and 35 minutes according to the site. Airbaltic lists the flights starting at €154 euros.
