Google Starts “Grow Greek Tourism Online” Initiative

In a new initiative announced by Google Greek tourism stands to gain in a collaborative effort in between the search giant, the Greek National Tourism Organization (EOT), and the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE).

Grow Greek Tourism Online” will be a project targeting enterprises in the tourism sector in Greece to ramp up Internet related skills that will help boost businesses in the digital sphere. One big rub for Greece tourism is the seasonal nature of tourism there. Summer being the premium time for tourist arrivals, an extended season has always been a sort of “Holy Grail” for hotels and other travel related business in the Aegean. 70% of tourist arrivals to the various Greek destinations visit during summer months, or basically between June and September.

While potential travelers searching the web for Greek tourism spots have been on the rise, obviously extending the touristic season could add greatly to revenue gains businesses in tune with digital might glean. The Google initiative will provide support in learning how to use tools such as Google My Business and Google AdWords in order to gain listing presence on various Google platforms from the SERPs to Google Maps and etc.

Also, the announcement speaks of Google Street View for Greece, which can not only highlight the country’s specific beauty,  but help travelers discover more about the wonderful places in Greece. The launch of Grow Greek Tourism Online is slated to kick off in Crete with events in Heraklion and Chania on September 2 and 3.
