Coming to Chania: Global Gardens Foodie Passport

Courtesy Dourakis Winery

Coming up June 15 – 17, Global Gardens Foodie Passport will present an incredible 3 days of touring, tasting, learning, experiencing Crete’s totally sustainable agricultural lifestyle. Guests will be introduced to the best of the island through a collection of family businesses.

The foodie extravaganza will feature traditional Cretan delicacies slightly off the beaten path, culinary treasures that only Global Gardens owner Theo Stephan knows about. This 3-day “passport” will focus on the prefecture of Chania. Fly into the Chania International Airport (CHQ) where you should stay in the port town of Chania which is of Venetian history. You’re welcome to stay in Platanias, especially if you want to rent a car and be directly on the beach vs the old port town. Theo is staying in Chania; and staying there for a few days is our highest recommendation.

The last day will end at the gorgeous Astrikas Estate, home of Biolea and Theo’s olive-growing mentor. Theo & her co-author, Christina Xenos, will help prepare an immense meal from their OPA! HEALTHY GREEK COOKBOOK. Live Greek music will accompany traditional Cretan dancers, local, biodynamic wines (you will visit the wineries!) and craft beer (yes you will visit them too) will accompany our feast. The 3-day Global Gardens Passport to Chania Crete Includes:

  • Wine tasting and mezze, Dourakis Winery
  • Wine tasting and lunch, Manousakis Winery
  • Beer tasting and lunch, Charma Brewery
  • Dinner, OPA! FEAST at Biolea, Astrikas Estate, dancing to live music, ground transport to and from dinner.

For those interested in this fabulous foodie tour, a schedule of open hours, days and arrival timeframes for each location will be provided by May 15, 2018. Transportation to each winery and brewery is not provided. You may rent a car, or Theo will provide excellent taxi references for ground transport. Ground transport IS provided to and from dinner at Biolea, June 17.

Guests may arrive on any of the three days and leave at their own leisure, and once tickets have been purchased Global Gardens will email participants to gather info and to impart “best of” advice from Theo. This event is happening rain or shine and no refunds are available after ticket purchase. Tickets may be transferred to another person; however, we must be notified in writing made to theo@globalgardensonline.com by May 15, 2018 of any transfers or changes.

Consider adding some (literally and figuratively!) memorable, beautiful adventures added to your time in Crete. One of Theo’s friend in Crete, Rebecca Skevaki, owns Crete Urban Adventures, http://www.creteurbanadventures.com
