The Dubai based low-cost airline Flydubai has announced its entry into the Ukrainian market with three brand new routes to Kiev, Donetsk and Khartov, beginning in September of this year.

The move will expand the carrier’s network of global destinations to 40 routes across the GCC, the Levant, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Indian sub-continent.

The new Ukraine flights will begin after the festival of Eid, in a strategic move whereby the airline hopes tourists from the UAE will take advantage of low cost flights and enjoy a winter holiday at one of Europe’s biggest upcoming destinations.

The company announced that flights to Kiev and Kharkov will commence on September 16th, while those to Donestk, in the east of Ukraine, will begin one day later on the 17th.

“Flydubai is a high quality, low-cost carrier that is providing a great new option for Middle Eastern and Ukranian passengers, this time offering affordable flights on brand new aircraft between the Kiev and Dubai,” said the director of Boryspil International Airport in Kiev, Anton Volov.

Gaith al Gaith, CEO of Flydubai, was equally enthusiastic about the new routes, saying “Not only is Ukraine a most fascinating country, but it’s also one with a perfect location at the very center of Europe. The potential of the UAE’s and Ukraine’s economic relationship is huge, and we are glad to be a part of this most promising relationship.”

“We are very impressed with Boryspil International Airport, and are especially honored that our flights will be landing at Terminal F, which is the most prestigious in the airport, one which is not usually offered to low-cost carriers.  We are most thankful to the Kiev airport authorities for this.
