Two tourist rescue operations mobilized the Fire Service in Crete on Thursday (September 10), with incidents reported in Kissamos and the municipality of Agios Vasilios in Rethymno.
The first incident is still underway in the Kissamos area and involves an American woman who reportedly injured her leg, specifically her ankle.
Rescuers organized a rescue operation to transfer the injured woman. She is being transported by private boat to Platanakia beach and then to Scheinari, where an EKAV ambulance is expected to take her to receive further assistance.
Earlier in the day, another incident prompted a response in southern Rethymno.
A German tourist, approximately 65 years old, was injured while walking on a trail near Agios Georgios beach in the municipality of Agios Vasilios. According to the information available, she also suffered an ankle injury.
Firefighters reached the woman and carried her to a safe location, where EKAV rescuers took over.
The Fire Service responded to both incidents, deploying two vehicles and four firefighters for each operation.
