As far as world beaches go, apparently many out there choose Cancun as the choice of beach getaways for Summer 2013. According to Orbitz the No. 1 international Summer beach hotspot is the legendary Spring Break destination in Mexico. Mexico and Central America are not only heating up temperature wise this Summer, but visitation wise.

The annual Orbitz Summer Travel Insider Index is a database of air and hotel booking numbers the online travel giant analyzes to pick “most popular” destinations. Overall Cancun came in third as a US destination behind the land of Mickey, Orlando, and Las Vegas. However, for Americans headed to the beaches Cancun was tops.

Interestingly, another report on outbound European travel showed recently that travelers from Europe head ever increasingly toward Cancun and Central America for their getaways and business. This Breaking Travel News report outlines how European travelers are almost stampeding to places like Costa Rica, Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama.

Whether the trend is due to a long, cold Winter in the Northern Hemisphere, or because of some other value proposition, this seems less relevant than the good business for those destinations. Some predict 13,000,000 visitors from Europe will head to the tropics of Central America this Summer. The telling thing about places like Belize are reflected in this story of why people a retiring in places like Corozal, on the Belize coast. Value, lifestyle, and ultimately the reduced stress level of such places is a magnificent value proposition. To break it down I quite from Chuck Bilbe, a man who just moved there with his wife:
“What we like the most about our move to Belize is that we can now have a lifestyle like Florida in the 1940s, but at a price we can afford. Our stress level is down and our satisfaction with life is definitely up. We’re eating better, sleeping better, and enjoying social activity much more now than we did before.”

Florida in the 1940s, now if there ever were a picture of incentive. From this writer’s perspective the place all my aunts and uncles moved to back when was a literal paradise of living wonder. Even though Florida became something of a mass of confusion finally, Orlando and other places in the 50s and 60s were fantastic places to live. So, visiting is the first way to discover the grass on the other side, correct?
