Delta Air Lines Expands Europe Flights

Delta Air Lines has just announced their expansion of daily service from JFK in New York to Zurich, Rome, Paris, and Amsterdam.

In an effort Delta says will strengthen its leading position in the New York market, the airline announced Boeing 767-300ER service daily beginning June 16th to Zurich Airport and Rome’s Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport. Rome service is to be carried out, however, via Airbus A330-300 aircraft from April to October, and in conjunction with Alitalia. Gail Grimmett, Delta’s senior vice president – New York, had this to say about the news:

“As the primary business market on the trans-Atlantic, demand continues to increase for more nonstop flights from New York to European destinations. Zurich ranks fourth in terms of business traffic from New York, and our additional service will build on the commercial, tourism and community links between these two cities.”

In addition, Delta will enter into a  joint venture with partners Air France-KLM and Alitalia this Winter to expand service to key European hubs at Paris Charles De Gaulle International Airport and Amsterdam Schiphol International Airport from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. From Atlanta, the joint venture will offer additional daily nonstop service for a total of four daily flights to both Amsterdam* and Paris.
