Coming to the south coast of Crete this August 5th thru 9th, the 4th International Documentary Festival of Ierapetra is dedicated to civilization. This year’s festival follows the same motive as all past version in documenting history throughout Greece and the world.

The festival this year will focus on documentaries on culture, folklore and on the cultural continuation of ethnicities submitted by young artists and directors from 18 to 25. The competition pits the best new documentaries, from the Greece and whole of the world, against one another in an idyllic setting, in Ierapetra, the southernmost town in Europe. At the Crossroads of cultures and continents,  a jury of international caliber personalities will judge films that illustrate the tradition, culture, customs and traditions, folklore and the modern industrial civilization of Europe. The Festival’s target is to keep pace with the developments in technology and cinema, socially as well as commercially and to maintain its ecumenical character.
