Global Travelers: No Sex Is Better than No Coffee!

It seems like coffee is really important for global travelers, or at least that’s what a survey conducted by Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts found out. 53% of the queried people said that coffee is their preferred wake up call, and not sex. 54% of the respondents sad that they are preparing this brew at home. 58% drink coffee to relax, 55% also drink it primarily for the taste, and 51% feel they could go longer without sex than without coffee. What is more intriguing is that 78% of the global travelers said that they would actually give up social media, alcohol and sex to their spouse for a year rather than giving up on coffee. Intriguing, or somewhat scary? What do you think?

Lack of coffee seems to lead to being less creative (28%), being unable to get out of bed (22%), or even incapacity of talking with other people (16%). Understandable, 63% of the respondents said they would give up alcohol over coffee while staying at a hotel. Coffee while traveling is about emotions, as 58% of respondents stated they generally miss the coffee experience they had while traveling.

In what coffee habits are concerned, during long meetings people ask for coffee (81%), rather than water (56%). Coffee, traveling, and being online are connected. The study showed that global travelers are using social media while traveling and drinking coffee (64%). Drinking coffee is a good moment to keep up with news – 72% of the respondents are either on social media or reading magazines/newspapers. Coffee also wins when it comes to the type of beverage travelers would show on their social media accounts while traveling – 53% of the mentions.

“As a LM100 member and Master Barista, I am thrilled to further bring coffee culture to life for Le Méridien guests worldwide,” said Storm. “Coffee is an essential part of the cultural and travel landscape, and I believe that the team of Master Baristas at Le Méridien hotels around the world will enhance the awareness and appreciation of various international trends and flavors.”

The study was conducted previous to the International Coffee Day on September 29.
