The Organizing Committee of the Aegean Regatta 2019 has announced the new circuit of the biggest international race in the Aegean. The race next season will start in Psara, and end in Inousses.

The news tells of special work being done at Psara harbor to accommodate the large number of boats that will take part next year. The Chairman of the Greek Sailing Committee of the Greek Sailing Federation, Lazaros Tsalikis had this to say about next year’s event:

“For this year’s event (2018), we have witnessed great participation from abroad, and the presence of many young sailors. So, we are very optimistic about next year’s continuation of this successful sailing race. In addition, the response of inhabitants of the Aegean islands, for the race, the reception, and the hospitality exhibited were really excellent. I am sure that the Aegean Regatta of 2019 will be equally successful, and it will have an innovation as well, as we will sail from historical Psara for the first time. “

The Aegean Regatta international sailing event began back in 2001 under the guidance of the Open Sea Community, the Hellenic Sailing Union, and other key stakeholders. The aim of the regatta is to give yachtsmen/women the opportunity to explore island destinations they may never otherwise be made familiar with. The purpose of the event is also to strengthen local communities financially and to introduce new visitors as well.

From 2001 until 2017 the Aegean Regatta sailed to the  islands of Lesvos, Hios, Oinousses, Samos, Leros, Ikaria, Kos, Simi, Rhodos, Limnos, Samothraki, Andros, Lipsous, Patmos, Astipalea, Tilos, Skopelos, Amorgos, Kalimnos, Nisiros, Thasos, Syros, Skyros and continues to visit new destinations.
