As part of the Crete Region outward tourism promotion, representatives of the island traveled to Rimini, Italy October 10-12 to take part in the TTG Travel Experience as a co-exhibitor alongside the GNTO. According to their reports, Crete was a topic of great interest for the Italian outbound market at Rimini Expo Centre.

For those unfamiliar, the TTG Travel Experience is the most important outbound tourism event in Italy and in Europe. Some 73,000 plus visitors crowded the event this year in order to network and learn of new touristic offerings for three days. The Crete Region participated in many offers to attendees including inviting lottery winners to stay at key Crete hotels.

Crete’s kiosk at the event greeted hundreds of interested attendees, and the
delegation showcased for visitors the comparative advantages of the island and the travel experiences it offers. The delegation from Crete also visited other kiosks and talked with journalists, travel agents, and their counterparts from other European regions.

According to the office of tourism Italy in 2019, the reservations to Crete will move at the same levels as this year, rising steadily. Meanwhile, competing markets in Turkey, Egypt and Tunisia will attract the lion’s share of regional tourists.

The focus of this year’s  TTG Travel Experience was on digital innovation, tourism psychology, new talents and meetings with top hospitality influencers, as well as officials like Italy’s Minister for Tourism, Gian Marco Centinaio. The travel experience, green travel, and hospitality design were also key facets of this year’s event.
