Russians Travel to Armenia Visa Free

Russians traveling to Armenia will no longer need passport stamps to enter the country. Furthermore, Armenian officials are working to encourage tourism, especially from Russia. Easing Russian entry, combined with wider international cooperation will reveal the magic of a hidden gem of European wonder.

The move to simplify Russia visitation come as a result of negotiations in between Prime Minister Of Armenia Karen Karapetyan and Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev some time back. This week Minister of justice of Armenia Arpine Hovhannisyan told reporters, “the decision is made to encourage visits to Armenia, particularly from Russia”.

What the move means is, Russians’ passports are good across Armenia without the need for undue scrutiny. Conjoining the move, the state Committee for tourism, the Prime Minister instructed to prepare for citizens of Russia-wide travel package. Mr. Medvedev addressed this issue in talks with his Armenian counterpart:

“We agreed that the citizens of our country will be able to travel to Armenia using domestic General civil passports. This will strengthen the cooperation in such important area as humanitarian human dimension”

Following those talks, the sides signed a document on amendments to the agreement on mutual visa-free trips of citizens of two countries.

With regard to Armenia’s hidden potential, Chairperson of the State Tourism Committee Zarmine Zeytuntsyan told reporters, ” a large number of rural communities of Armenia have tourist attractions which remain unrevealed not only for the world but also for Armenia itself”. According to her, Armenia’s prime minster has also applied to 67 airline companies inviting them to Armenia, and the country has adopted the Open Sky policy as well.

In addition, the cooperation between the Ministry of industry and trade of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of economic development and investments of Armenia will build even closer ties in between the two nations in the coming years.
