Alitalia CEO Steps Down

Andrea Ragnetti, CEO of Alitalia, has stepped down according to confirmed reports from the air carrier. According to the news (PDF) brief, Chairman Roberto Colaninno will serve during the interim while the board appoints Ragnetti’s successor. 

While not reason for Ragnetti’s resignation was given, it seems certain the airline’s net loss in 2012 of €280 million, almost four times the airline’s 2011 losses, must have brought to bear on his stepping down.

Alitalia has been struggling for some time trying to stay liquid.  Roberto Colaninno, along with two Vice-Presidents, Elio Catania and Salvatore Mancuso, will handle the process of appointing a new CEO. For more information readers should visit the airline’s website, or contact:
