Aeroflot Orders 100 More Superjets

Aeroflot - Russian Airlines Sukhoi Superjet 100-95 on short final to Sheremetyevo Airport - Dmitry Zherdin CC

Aeroflot has struck a deal covering a further 100 Sukhoi Superjet regional airliners, scheduled to join its fleet in between 2019 and 2026.

Disclosing the agreement, Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCAC) says the jets will adhere to a two-class layout, with 12 seats in business class and 75 in economy. SCAC says the contract will be completed upon “finalizing of all the essential terms” and its corporate approval.

Slyusar states that as the launch customer and operator of the largest Superjet 100 fleet, Aeroflot “greatly” influenced the project, adding that the latest agreement is a “new page in this collaboration”.

The airline has 49 Superjets in service, and a 50th is to be delivered in the near future, notes SCAC.

Earlier this year, Aeroflot agreed to lease 50 MC-21-300s built by United Aircraft subsidiary Irkut.
