Agios Nikolaos Restores the Yellow Line as Red and Green Routes Pause

Agios Nikolaos reinstates the Yellow Line from 17 November 2025 while the Red and Green Lines pause.

Agios Nikolaos is updating its municipal transport schedule once again. Beginning Monday, November 17, 2025, the Yellow Line of the urban bus network will resume full operation, while the Red and Green Lines will temporarily go offline as part of the municipality’s planned rotation.

The two new routes, introduced in September, were created to expand the town’s free public transport network and make movement easier for residents and visitors. The Red and Green Lines extended coverage along areas that had long been underserved, including the coastal road of Akti St. Koundourou. The expansion was part of the municipality’s larger effort to improve daily mobility, reduce traffic pressure, and modernise local services.

For now, all municipal bus routes remain free of charge, with the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos covering the operating costs until the next phase of the program is implemented.

The Yellow Line: Route Overview

The restored Yellow Line covers a 7-kilometre loop, connecting central streets, neighbourhoods, public services, and coastal promenades.

Digital Tools: Real-Time Bus Tracking

In the push toward a smarter and more sustainable city, the municipality has launched a complete digital upgrade for the urban bus system.

Developed in-house by the Department of Informatics and Communications, the new platform includes:

  • Real-time GPS tracking of all municipal buses
  • Live arrival times at every stop (accessible via QR code)
  • Trip planning for more accurate connections

All information is available on the website: www.agncitybus.gr, which is accessible on both mobile devices and desktops.

The department not only developed the software but also designed the telematics hardware supporting it, making Agios Nikolaos one of the few Greek municipalities with a fully home-built intelligent bus-monitoring system.
