Yakutia Airlines is boosting the number of flights from Alaska to destinations in the Russian Far East and beyond. The Russian carrier now offers American travelers a spectacular opportunity to visit some of the world’s last bastions of true wilderness.

Offering a range of escapes to places like Siberia’s colourful and diamond-rich Republic of Sakha, and to the Kamchatka Peninsula, also known as the Land of Fire and Ice, Yakutia’s latest initiative is not simply for wild adventurers, but for hunters and fishermen, and for all those who want to see nature in all its unspoiled glory. Visitors to these Far Eastern realms of Russia experience a natural habitat unlike anything on Earth, as well as famous Siberian hospitality.
This 5th year of the so-called Alaska-Russian Far East Air Service kicks off with the summer season flights between Anchorage and Yakutsk, and the capital of Sakha, the largest region in Russia. For those unfamiliar, Yakutia is an area only slightly smaller than the entirety of India, a land of hundreds of lakes, and of astounding landscapes. I asked Sergey Rasshivaev (image above), pro surfer and CEO of Surf Holidays, about this upcoming tour season in Kamchatka. Here’s what he had to offer:

According to the news, the new Yakutsk connections will operate via established destination Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on the Kamchatka peninsula on Russia’s Pacific coast. Scheduled flights are tailored to allow North American travelers to connect same-day at Kamchatka and Yakutsk to Moscow, Khabarovsk, Vladivostok and a host of other Russian cities.

Tickets are now on sale through the InterPacific Aviation and Marketing website, AirRussia.US, most professional travel agents, and ticketing outlets across Russia. The flights will operate on Mondays, July 11 to August 29, 2016 utilizing Boeing 737-700 and 737-800 aircraft.
