“The Oscars of the Travel Industry”, as the World Travel Awards are also known, announced the Europe winners in a gala ceremony held in Antalya, Turkey. As expected, famous brands such as Hilton, Lufthansa, Cornelia, Mantis, Intercontinental, Avis and others are among the winners.
Hilton received Leading Hotel awards Europe-wide, while Forte Village Resort Sardinia was named Europe’s Leading Resort, Waldorf Astoria Berlin received Europe’s Leading New Hotel Resort Award and Angels Peninsular Turkey was voted Europe’s Leading Family Resort. Yorkshire gathered Leading European Destination award, while Portugal was voted Europe’s Leading Golf Destination and Kuoni was awarded Europe’s Leading Destination Management Organisation. Lisbon, Portugal was declared Europe’s Leading City Break Destination. Zurich Airport received Europe’s Leading Airport and Lufthansa again was voted Europe’s Leading Airline; Europe’s Leading Low-Cost Airline went to easyJet.
The ceremony was held at Cornelia Diamond Resort & Spa, brand that took two important awards: for Europe’s Leading Fully Integrated Resort and Europe’s Leading Luxury Golf Resort & Spa, while sister resort Cornelia Deluxe were voted Turkey’s Leading Golf Resort. Europe’s Leading Cruise Line ward went to Norwegian Cruise Lines, and Europe’s Leading Ferry Company were DFDS Seaways.
Hotel Adlon Kempinski from Germany received Europe’s Leading Business Hotel, while Hôtel Fouquet’s Barrière Paris, France is Europe’s Leading City Hotel.
The Eiffel Tower was acknowledged as Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction, while Disneyland Paris is Europe’s Leading Themed Resort.
