“Wild Forever”, the third and the final part of the Wild Carpathia series – a unique trilogy about the priceless majesty of the Romanian forests and mountains, will be broadcast in Romania by Travel Channel UK on November 8th.

This time, the host, Charlie Ottley, travels to one of the most picturesque regions in The Carpathians – Maramures – Northern Romania. Here, he experiences traditional festivals and weddings, learns about the evolution of Romanian music with the renowned folk singer Grigore Lese and pop singer Loredana Groza. Crossing the mountains to Moldova, Ottley visits famous Bucovina´s painted monasteries and his monks. His journey ends at Bicaz Gorge and Lacul Rosu (Red Lake), where he learns how tourism is helping to preserve the last great wilderness in Europe: Carpathian forests, the place where bears, wolves and lynxes still live.
Romania has around 6.4 million hectares of forest, out of which 210,000 hectares are virgin forests. They represent about 65 per cent of the virgin forests still remaining in Europe, outside Russia and are mainly situated in the mountainous Carpathian region. Only 20 per cent of them are part of national parks and therefore protected by law.
The documentary also features an interview with Prince Charles, who is known to have a longstanding connection with Romania. He owns a house in an old village in Transilvania and is constantly involved in local causes.

Romania is a wonderful country…Romanians are remarkable people…they are innate skilled people”. – Prince Charles said, referring to the forest and mountains and people of Romania.
Wild Carpathia, a collaboration between Travel Channel UK and the Romanian Tourism Authority, has, with the help of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and other key supporters, become an international phenomenon.
