Visit Hungary for the VOLT Festival 2011

The VOLT Festival (June 29 – July 2, 2011) is one of the most celebrated cultural events in Eastern Europe. It is hosted in Sopron, a romantic Hungarian city on the Austrian border, known for its historic attractions that include walls and foundations from the Roman Empire, Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque structures, and other architectural masterpieces.

Sopron is also known for its red and white wines, and, of course, for the VOLT Festival expecting its guests in the middle of a fabulous forest every July.

There are no less than 15 stages that will present circa 200 programs, including concerts, DJs, theater shows and other performances. All musical styles are present, so there will be something for every mood. From rock, to pop, jazz, hip-hop, and electro, the festival will feature some international names, alongside local talent.

The VOLT festival is mainly popular with the young, but don't let the age stay in the way of what promises to be a memorable four days.

Attend the events you fancy, and remember that Sopron has a lot to offer in terms of culture, history, tradition and cuisine. This is Hungary, after all, a country that knows good food and good wine, and sure thing, a country that knows how to party.

The VOLT Festival can already be considered a tradition in this area. The first edition, in 1993, featured only 5 bands and 800 guests attended the event. But since, the festival grew each year, welcoming almost 70000 visitors last year. And the names that made history here include Marilyn Manson, Manu Chao, Franz Ferdinand, Limp Bizkit, Art Brut, Cypress Hill, Roni Size Reprazent, The Offspring, The Prodigy, Pet Shop Boys, and many others. See the performers for 2011 here, and visit the official VOLT website for more information.
