Marriott Extends Helping Hand to UK & Europe Youth

Marriott Hotels across Europe and the UK will donate £1 euro €1 to relieve youth unemployment throughout February, the company announced. As part of the “World of Opportunity” initiative announced last week, the “You eat – we give” program is designed to afford the disadvantaged a leg up in reaching their full potential.

Marriott’s charitable effort for “You eat” is pretty simple, when guests eat at designated hotels, the company will offer up donations for youth in those communities. Young people in the UK will benefit from the donations via The Prince’s Trust, in the form of employ-ability courses. For those in Continental Europe, the Marriott donations will go for vocational training and scholarships via SOS Children’s Villages. Amy McPherson, president and managing director for Marriott International in Europe, had this to say about the news:

“Considering the sharp increase in youth unemployment across Europe, we feel ‘World of Opportunity’ can help offer a real solution and be potentially life-changing for participants. Marriott strongly believes that our business should be aligned with what is most important to the communities where we operate, and we hope that through this new initiative we will help make a positive impact in the lives of young people across Europe.”
