Tune Hotels Comes to Jakarta

Our friends at Tune Hotels, the leading value hotel brand with properties across Southeast Asia and the UK, has just announced a further expansion – with the grand opening of Tune Hotel Pasar Baru in Jakarta, Indonesia, scheduled to take place on July 12.

Tune Hotel Pasar Baru

With a total of 168 rooms, including 117 doubles, 36 twins and one additional room with facilities for disabled guests, Tune Hotel Pasar Baru is set to become a prime location for budget travelers visiting what is one of the most popular and lively districts in Jakarta, known for its excellent street markets and shopping venues.

Pasar Baru, or “New Market”, has long been of the most important commercial centers in Jakarta, home to a cultural melting pot of Indian, Chinese and Malaysian immigrant traders who settled in the city. This famous street is one of the few places in Jakarta to retain its historical charm, offering an escape from Jakarta’s gridlocked traffic into its colonial past, with numerous vintage stores and market vendors trading their wares in much the same fashion as they have done for the last two-hundred years.

Tune Hotel Pasar Baru is ideally located for anyone wishing to explore Indonesia’s sprawling capital city. Centrally located, it’s just a short walk to numerous key attractions in Jakarta, including the Kemayoran Expo Center and the Mangga Dua wholesale complex, the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia.

Tune Hotel Pasar Baru becomes the brand’s third Indonesian property (the others are in Bali and Kuta), bringing its concept of “pay-as-you-use” to central Jakarta for the first time. The revolutionary concept allows guests to literally set their own room rates, paying for only the services and amenities they need. Guests pay a flat rate for the room, then ‘add-on’ amenities such as air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, towels and toiletries only if they wish to use them.

Mark Lankester, CEO of Tune Hotels Group, spoke of his delight at the grand opening of Tune Hotel Pasar Baru:

“Jakarta has been on our radar screen for a long time now, with many of our guests consistently asking about our plans there. The wait is over and we are ecstatic with finally opening the first hotel in the capital of Indonesia. What better place than to be in the heart of where the rich and deep history of Jakarta came to be and being centrally located to food, shopping and entertainment in this large widely spread city. We look forward to being able to spread the word to our Indonesian neighbors and of course look after inbound travelers from SE Asia and beyond.”

As well as their three Indonesian hotels, Tune Hotels owns a string of properties across Southeast Asia and Europe, operating 11 hotels in Malaysia, three in the Philippines, two in Thailand and a further two in the UK. Tune Hotels have won significant praise in these countries for their unique ‘pay-as-you-go’ hotel concept, most recently being named as one of MIX Magazine’s “Top 20 Indonesia Innovative Brands”.

However, the brand is not about to rest on its laurels. According to Lankester, Tune Hotels have plans to open a staggering thirty new properties across the globe during the next twelve months, including their first ventures into the Australian and Indian markets.

In the meantime, Tune Hotel Pasar Baru is set to celebrate its grand opening in the same spirit as all Tune Hotels, offering its first, lucky guests an incredible discount, with one night’s stay available at the incredible low price of just $8!

This limited offer is only available from May 7 until May 14, and will be valid between the moment it opens its doors on July 12 until December 31 this year. To take advantage of this incredible offering, visit Tune Hotels’ official website for more information.
