A brand new tour on the famous Trans-Siberian Railway begins this summer – a new and improved, luxurious tourist trip will depart from Moscow this August, and promises to be a most unforgettable experience.
The new tour, which is billed to provide a whole new level of rail travel comfort with luxury cabins and gourmet food, will stop at dozens of sightseeing stops and organized tours along its route through the Eurasia and the Central Asian steppes as it slowly makes its progress to the gates of the Far East in Oriental China. Taking around four weeks, the tour is significantly longer than previous tours offered.
The new Trans-Siberian tour from Moscow to Beijing, operated by Intourist and RZhD-Tour, has been billed as the most magical, romantic way to explore the Siberian hinterlands, a part of the world rarely seen by the millions of globe-trotting tourists jetting across the skies each year.
The inaugural voyage of the tour will leave Moscow on August 14, arriving in the Chinese capital Beijing on August 26. Following two days of excursions and tours in the city, the train will depart for Moscow once again, arriving back in the Russian capital by September 15.
The return leg of the journey will last around two to three weeks, giving guests time to jump off and explore a range of cities and attractions en-route back home.
Guided excursions, with interpreters for foreign tourists, will be laid on for passengers in Kazan, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk (Russia), Ulan-Bataar, Ulan-Ude (Mongolia) and Erlian (China).
One of the highlights promises to be the Circum-Baikal Railroad, also known as the “Golden Buckle on Russia’s Steel Belt”. This stretch of railway circles the glorious Lake Baikal, the world’s largest inland body of water, and one of the most stunningly beautiful places on Earth.
Stopping off in Ulan-Bataar, tourists will be taken on an excursion through the Mongolian capital before spending an unforgettable night in an original Mongol nomadic tent – a yurt.
Passengers will be able to choose from couchette cars, for 3 to 4 persons, sleepers for 1 to 2 persons, and luxury cabins featuring en-suite bathrooms, hot showers and even a TV.
The train will also feature a canteen car and two dining cars, both offering delicious gourmet foods from the regions visited during the tour, together with western food and vegetarian meals. Also on board is a bar car, stocked with local beers and fine wines, and a shower car for those passengers sleeping in couchettes.
Tickets for the new tour can be booked from either Intourist or RZhD-Tour.
