Tourism Expo in Olomouc Celebrates Its 22nd Edition

The Holy Trinity Column in Olomouc is the biggest Baroque sculptural group in the Czech Republic.

The Tourism Expo in Olomouc celebrates its 22nd edition in 2017. The exhibition takes place at Flora Olomouc Exhibition Grounds on February 10-11.

If you attend the Tourism Expo this February you can enjoy a variety of activities designed by local travel agencies to make you familiar with the main attractions of the city and the Olomouc Region. You will receive information from different exhibitors, including Resort Hrubá Voda; travel agency DCK Rekrea Ostrava s.r.o. specializing in trips to the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and Hungary; Pangeo tours a.s. specializing in tours around the world; JV-TOUR; and others.

The program of the exhibition includes valuable advice and experiences from travelers, lectures, discussions, a non-traditional gourmet food experience with unusual dishes and tastings, a demonstration of decorating chocolate truffles by confectionery company Lenka Glosová, book signing and sales, travel documentaries and more.

Olomouc on the banks of the Morava River in the Czech Republic is the historic capital of Moravia. It is a charming destination, with large squares boasting important architectural landmarks, the most famous of which is the Holy Trinity Column, built from 1716 to 1754 and designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.

Another prominent must-see attraction is the Saint Wenceslas Cathedral, a neo-gothic edifice built and consecrated in 1131 when its style was Romanesque. In the XIII and XIV centuries the cathedral was extensively renovated and modified with Gothic elements. Gustav Meretta and R. Völkel redesigned the facade, the west front, and the central tower from 1883 until 1892. Finally, the cathedral was fully renovated again in 2004 – 2007.

There’s plenty to explore in the old part of the city. Don’t forget your camera to capture Instagram-worthy images such as these:
