The UNWTO Has Selected Thessaloniki to Host the 8th International Meeting on Silk Road Tourism

Thessaloniki will host the 8th International Meeting on Silk Road Tourism

The UNWTO Silk Road Programme announced this week the selection of Thessaloniki in Greece’s Macedonia region, as the site of the 8th UNWTO International Meeting on Silk Road Tourism. Slated for October, the event will run from October 10-12 2018.

Officials at UNWTO congratulated the Region of Central Macedonia, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and Thessaloniki Convention Bureau for successfully winning the tender process for the event with the support of the Ministry of Tourism of Greece.

It was decided that Greece would host the event after Tourism Minister, Elena Kountoura and the General Secretary of the Organisation, Zurab Pololikashvili, signed the relevant agreement in May 2018.

Further updates will be posted in due time. Background information on the 7th UNWTO International Meeting on Silk Road Tourism hosted in Xi’an, China, can be found here.
