The Fabulous Acropolis Museum Turns Five

Recently ranked one of the 20 best museums of the world, the Acropolis Museum celebrates its fifth anniversary this month. On Friday June 20th a series of events including a concert by Leon of Athens highlight the momentous occasion.

Visitors will also enjoy a  3D presentation of the horse riders statues (Hippeis), that stand in the west side frieze, as well as reduced ticket prices for the day. These west frieze horse riders with bronze weapons and reins added, will be presented in a three-dimensional picture with alternating lighting and coloring. Just such innovative ideas are what have made the museum one of the most popular in the city.

The anniversary celebrations start at 9:30 PM with the start of the concert in the courtyard. The museum’s exhibition rooms and restaurant will remain open from 8 a.m until midnight.
