Barcelona – The Catalonian Art Capital

The Catalonian capital of Barcelona might as well be considered Europe’s capital of art. Artists like Joan Miró, Antoni Gaudí, Lluís Domènech i Montaner, Salvador Dalí are just a few of the big names – strong representatives from Catalonia. Museums and art creations by these artists are found in abundance in the city of Barcelona.

Born in Málaga, Pablo Picasso has also resided in Barcelona for a while – reason why, there is a rich Picasso Museum established in Barcelona. Take your time and visit the main art-related attractions, Barcelona has plenty to offer. It would be a shame to leave the experience out, after all – Barcelona is an art paradise, as independent travel blogger, Escape Hunter says. Architectural artworks, paintings, plastic art creations, music and even street art will keep you busy for days on end.

Tripadvisor’s Barcelona Museums page presents the best ones to visit while in the city. If your stay is a short one, e.g. 3-5 days, then make sure you visit the top buildings by Gaudí, the Dalí Museum in the Gothic Quarter and perhaps the Joan Miró museum, if enough time is left… ideally, the Catalan National Museum of Arts shouldn’t be left out. It is one of the biggest art museums in Spain with an impressively rich collection.

A more visual guide to Barcelona’s Museums is this one by TimeOut. But there’s more to Barcelona than the top art-related attractions.

The crowds don’t go exploring every winding street, but Escape Hunter does – take a short virtual journey discovering hidden attractions in Barcelona. Because, some of the most enthralling buildings are found scattered on the big city’s streets, hidden from the eyes of the crowds. Few people wander out to see them.
